Senior Cloud Automation Engineer

London, Hybrid

You will be a Senior Cloud Engineer within the Global Engineering group; responsible for engineering, design and integration across the Cloud platform and software toolchain. The successful candidate will have a vital role in shaping future strategy and direction within the organization and must possess a broad range of experience, with particular focus on Devops agility.

Role / Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop Automation standards and deployment methodologies
  • Propose, design, and implement enhancements and additions to current environment
  • Develop infrastructure automation standards and procedures
  • Mentor fellow engineers on technical issues, standards and procedures
  • Assist in managing continuous improvement of engineering, delivery, and operational practices
  • Assist in developing engineering and operational service metrics with actionable plans to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality/SLA, and optimize delivery

Skills & Experience Required:

  • End-to-end understanding of systems development life cycle methodology
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding product lifecycles as well as how technical systems work and interact
  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of all critical Production Support processes

Knowledge Required:

  • In-depth understanding of scripting languages (bash, Perl, python) providing infrastructure automation
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and design
  • Extensive knowledge of industry leading Configuration Management Solutions such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet
  • Tangible experience of DevOps tools i.e. Jenkins, Gitlab, Flux2 and their application to optimizing Enterprise Infrastructure Delivery
  • Experience managing and deploying across large Virtual Server and Cloud based platforms
  • In depth understanding of Kubernetes and container technology

- Demonstrable experience of working within a highly scalable system that rely heavily on UNIX, Linux and open source technologies

- Experience of Public Cloud technology such as AWS, GCP or Azure desirable
